It’s Hot. That’s the Post. ☀️

There’s a point every summer in Florida where it stops feeling like a season and starts feeling like a full-time condition. You walk outside for two minutes and immediately regret it, and somehow it’s still humid even when it’s not raining. It’s the kind of heat that makes you question every decision that led you to be outside in the first place.

I’ve noticed that everything starts to adjust around it. You plan your day a little differently, you think twice before leaving the house, and you start appreciating anything that lets you stay inside a little longer. Even the idea of doing something simple outside feels like more effort than it should be.

The kitchen has its own version of that too. There’s something slightly unhinged about choosing to turn on an oven when it’s already hot, but at the same time, it’s still where I end up. The routine doesn’t really change, it just becomes a little more intentional. A little more “I’m going to do this and then sit directly in front of a fan afterward.”

I think that’s part of what I’ve come to accept about this time of year. You don’t really fight it, you just work around it. You adjust, you find what still works, and you keep things as simple as possible so you’re not making it harder than it already is.

And somehow, even with all of that, things still come together. Maybe a little slower, maybe with a little more effort, but still good in the end.
