Sabre’s Late Summer Kitchen Rules ☀️

(a blog post by the cat who continues to run everything)

Hello.

It’s Sabre.

Chief Crumb Supervisor, Professional Observer, and the only one here with a consistent schedule.

We are now fully in what I would describe as “too hot” season, which means it’s time for an updated set of rules for how this operation will continue.

Please review carefully.

1. I will not be hot.
The outside is unacceptable. The inside is acceptable. I will be positioning myself directly in front of any available air vent, tile floor, or shaded area. Blaze may continue using the oven, but I will not be participating in that decision.

2. Productivity is optional. Naps are not.
There is a correct balance to the day, and it heavily favors sleeping. Blaze sometimes forgets this and attempts to “get things done.” I will be correcting this behavior by laying directly in her way.

3. I must be involved in all baking activities.
I will not assist, but I will be present. This includes walking through the kitchen at critical moments, inspecting surfaces, and ensuring everything smells correct.

4. If there is packaging, I am there.
Crinkling sounds are a direct invitation. I will appear immediately and place myself exactly where I am least helpful.

5. I am aware of the schedule.
Life Group, choir, baking nights - I know where everyone is supposed to be. If anything changes, I will be monitoring closely and reacting accordingly.

6. All attention belongs to me.
If you are in this house, you are here to pet me. This is not a suggestion. This is understood.

7. Hydration matters. Mine specifically.
Fresh water only. Refilled often. Preferably in a glass that was not originally intended for me.

8. The business continues to operate under my supervision.
Blaze will continue baking. Orders will continue to be made. I will continue to watch everything and take full credit where appropriate.

That is all.

Please adjust your expectations accordingly.
