Sabre’s Summer Kitchen Rules ☀️

(a blog post by the cat who is once again in charge)

Hello. It’s me again.

Sabre.

Chief Feline Operations Manager of Bread by Blaze, Professional Supervisor, and now… Seasonal Director of Summer Activities.

We’re entering a very important time of year, which means it’s time to review updated policies for the kitchen.

Please read carefully.

  1. The windows will not be opening. Don’t ask.
I am aware that some people enjoy “fresh air.” I am also aware that I am an indoor cat with very important health considerations. So while Florida may briefly pretend to be pleasant this time of year, we will be enjoying it from the safety of the indoors. You may look outside. I will also look outside. That is enough.

  2. The kitchen is hotter. I will not be.
Blaze may choose to stand near the oven. That is her calling. I will be relocating to cooler surfaces only. Tile. Couch. The one exact spot where the air vent hits. This is non-negotiable.

  3. Holidays mean more activity. I must be informed.
Memorial Day. July 4th. These are high-traffic events. There will be baking. There will be people. There will be doors opening and closing more than usual. I will be present for all of it, whether I am needed or not.

  4. If it smells like a BBQ, I am involved.
I don’t eat bread. This has been established. But if there are new smells in the air - grilling, butter, anything suspiciously interesting - I will be conducting a full investigation from a safe and respectful distance.

  5. Sam’s birthday is a national holiday.
My dad turns older in June, and this is a very big deal. There will be celebration. There will be food. There may be cake. I will be overseeing all of it personally.

  6. Deliveries increase. So does my presence.
If you are picking up an order and you hear me at the door, that is not a coincidence. I have arrived to greet you. Please acknowledge me accordingly.

  7. Hydration is important.
For everyone. Especially me. Fresh water only. Refilled frequently. Preferably in a glass that was not originally mine.

  8. Summer baking still happens. I will still supervise.
Even when it’s hot. Even when Blaze questions her life choices while standing near the oven. I will be there. Watching. Judging. Supporting in spirit.

That concludes the seasonal update.

Blaze will continue baking.
Sam will continue existing (important).
And I will continue running this entire operation.

Enjoy your summer.
